PHLOGOPITE – FLASH OF FLAME

About the mineral

Phlogopite is a fairly common and popular mineral in our time, which belongs to the mica group. From Greek “phlogeros” means fiery. Indeed, phlogopite is distinguished by reddish hues that resemble flashes of flame. At the end of the 19th century, Breithaupt introduced this name; now it is found everywhere in scientific literature and is the main one.
The mineral is quite common, but almost never occurs on its own. Found and developed together with other minerals. Most often together with:

  • ultrabasite;
  • kimberlite;
  • carbonatite;
  • calcifire.

When they talk about the origin of phlogopite, disputes begin between geologists and mineralogists. This is because the mineral has not a dual, but a triple origin:

  • metasomatic;
  • igneous;
  • metamorphic.

Properties

Phlogopite is a magnesium aluminosilicate. Formula – KMg3[AlSi3O10](OH,F)2. Almost always has impurities. They are found in different proportions and greatly influence the appearance, structure and color of phlogopite:

  • sodium;
  • titanium;
  • iron;
  • manganese;
  • calcium.

The mineral phlogopite has a glassy good luster. In some cases, you can notice a pearlescent sheen. Phlogopite is often translucent, less often transparent. Its fracture is mica-like. Settings are low. Hardness – 2.5 according to the Mohs table. Density – 2.8 g/cm3.

May be in different colors. Phlogopite happens:

colorless

grayish white

silvery

yellowish

reddish

brown

An interesting fact is that phlogopite crystals grow up to two meters long. The longer they are, the more valuable they are. Phlogopite is rarely used in jewelry, but there are still cases. The stone is often used as a talisman or amulet.

Magic properties

The magical properties of the mineral have been poorly studied. Lithotherapists shrug their shoulders, and in some cases confuse this mineral with others. The magical effect can be different, they usually say that it all depends on the coloring. For example, if we are dealing with a reddish pebble, then it will help in love, with its help you will find your soulmate.

Colorless will give success in work and affairs. Silver brings happiness to the family. Dark, brown specimens will give passive people energy and enthusiasm. Most often the stone is worn around the neck. As a talisman it will protect against negative influences. But this cannot be said to be a strong blocking stone. A strong evil eye or damage breaks through it. But it will help you avoid meeting bad people and warn you of danger.

Taking a piece of mineral in your palm,

I feel the mystery of the Universe.

I feel like this is exactly what I was looking for –

A small piece of mortal life

He was born in a fairy cave,

There are countless of his friends there.

The soul lives in it, I believe in it

And I want to read his story

I look into his eyes openly,

I hear the music of his vibrations.

Something in him is hidden from us –

Secret echo of coronations

I reached out with my thoughts and my heart,

He responded with warmth in his palm.

And it seems to me that the door has opened –

Entering there will fulfill my dreams

SAGILITE – ROYAL SOPHISTICATED

General characteristics

A rare precious mineral of extraordinary purple color, sagilite stone is of particular value to mineral connoisseurs. The stone received its name in honor of the Japanese mineralogist Kenichi Suga. It was he who first discovered and described a new mineral in 1944.

Sugi initially assumed that the specimens he found were purple turquoise. Chemical analysis dispelled this misconception and pointed to the discovery of a new mineral, later known as sagilite.

The main feature of this stone is its color. Minerals of soft violet, bright violet or purple colors characteristic of sagilite are practically not found in nature. There are also individual specimens of pink, lilac, lilac, and yellowish-brown colors. The chemical formula of the gem is KNa2(Fe,Mn,Al)2Li3Si12O30. The complex chemical composition explains the rare physical properties of the mineral.

Sagilite is a hard stone. Its translucent crystals shine through in the sun and have an attractive glassy sheen. Each mineral sample has a unique pattern with inclusions and ornate patterns. Such inclusions can set off the main color of the stone and give it royal sophistication.

Basic physical properties:

  • hardness – 6-6.5
  • shine – glass
  • strength – high
  • transparency – shines through
  • density – 2.7-2.8 g/cm3

Place of Birth

Today, only three deposits of sagilite are known in the world: the Japanese archipelago – the place of the first discovery, the Kalahari Desert in South Africa and central India. Over all this time, only 5 thousand kilograms of this raw material have been extracted, and the current deposits have already exhausted their reserves.

Application

Sagilite is used as a valuable jewelry material. The high price makes it an elite class stone. The gem is cut into a cabochon and inserted into designer jewelry. Lenticular specimens are used to make bracelets, beads and pendants, and transparent specimens are used to make inserts into rings and earrings.

Magic properties

Sagilite has the ability to awaken love. The owner of this gem will never experience disappointment in love. He will love and remain loved until the end of his days. His heart will open and find his true soulmate.

Meaning in astrology

Sagilite is the talisman of Virgo. It enhances the positive aspects of their life and protects them from possible troubles. For other zodiac signs, sagilite exhibits its usual magical properties.

Medicinal properties

Sagilite normalizes hormonal levels and has a positive effect on the human psyche. It is recommended to wear it for depression, stress, schizophrenia, and autism. It also protects against cancer and blocks the development of tumors in the human body.

Sagilite is my favorite stone.
Changeable and unusually beautiful.
Sometimes he casts indigo, sometimes
Turns purple-blue, full of mystery.
He feels the mood of his owner,
Promises success and self-confidence.
Perhaps he is the messenger of the gods above,
And it will be a talisman in my life

SCOLECITE – BRINGING LOVE

About the stone

Scolecite is a rare, decorative, and very beautiful mineral. Highly valued by collectors and ordinary mineral collectors. It is not widely used in industry. It can often be found in the form of a cabochon.

At the beginning of the 19th century it was described by Fuchs and Gehlen. The mineral gets its name from the Greek word “slid,” which means worm. The fact is that it wriggles like a worm if you bring a torch or blowtorch to it.

There are also alternative names:

  • needle stone;
  • ellagite.

The stone is formed by hydrothermal method. There are very few deposits around the world, but individual crystals are often found in cracks and crevices of igneous rocks. Usually located in the earth’s crust along with zeolites. Most often, scolecite has impurities that greatly affect the color:

  • sodium;
  • potassium;
  • iron.

Properties of scolecite

It is, in fact, calcium aluminosilicate. The formula is not simple: Ca[Al2Si3O10]*3H2O. Chemists say that this mineral does not have a constant composition.

The substances in the mineral are arranged in the following proportion:

  • silica – 46%;
  • alumina – 25%;
  • calcium oxides – 15%;
  • water – 12%.
    The gloss is silky, rarely translucent, and even more rarely transparent.

Light properties may vary, but clear crystals have a beautiful shine and are highly prized. Has piezoelectric properties. Dissolves in hydrochloric acid. Scolecite is resistant to other acids. Hardness: 5.5 on the Mohs scale. Density – 2.3 g/cm3. The disadvantage of the stone is that it is very fragile and very difficult to work with. It has radiant, needle-shaped crystals, sometimes very beautiful. In ultraviolet rays they give off a soft yellowish glow.

Magical properties of scolecite

As mentioned, scolecite belongs to the group of zeolites, due to which it has common chemical and physical properties. It is mined in the same deposits. It is noted that the magical properties partially coincide. First of all, such crystals bring love. Guys who use scolecite are starting to notice that girls are starting to pay attention to them, this is not without reason.

This is due to the magical effect of the stone. He brings comfort and tranquility to the family. Scolecite is most recommended for Cancers – the guardians of the hearth. We are talking about Cancer girls. It will help Pisces men find a common language with employees at work, give them the strength not to be late, and provide reports to their boss on time. In some cases, lithotherapists recommend using the mineral scolecite for water purification.

Stones have always aroused interest in a person, they have attracted and beckoned. They awakened thought and imagination. Poets dedicated poems to them, artists tried to comprehend them by depicting them on canvas, musicians tried to hear the music of the stones. The remarkable Armenian poet Amo Saghyan in his poems sang about the Stone, its living essence, its unity with the world and man:

A stone is a flock, and a stone is a herd.

Stone is the way out. The stone is an obstacle.

Stone is the flock,

Shepherd, shepherd.

The stone is food, and the stone is SPIRIT.

Stone is protection, and stone is light,

Stone – wisdom, experience, advice.

Stone is flame, stone is fire,

The stone is the rider, and the stone is the horse.

Stone is a stronghold, flight and eagle,

Stone – pillow, tablecloth and table.

Stone – earth, harrow and hoe,

A stone is a sacrament, a stone is a book.

Stone is a wound, stone is a balm,

Stone – TEMPLE…

RIBEKIT – MESSENGER OF EGYPT

Description

Riebeckite is an interesting and unusual silicate mineral belonging to the alkaline amphiboles.

The mineral has a complex composition, is a hydrous silicate of magnesium, sodium, iron with the formula Na2(Mg,Fe2+)3Fe3+2×Si8O22(OH)2.

Reebeckite also contains impurities of calcium, titanium, manganese, potassium and, occasionally, lithium.

Properties:

  • the crystal structure has a monoclinic system and consists of double chains of silicon-oxygen (Si4O11) tetrahedra;
  • prism-perfect cleavage;
  • crystals are formed in the form of asbestos-like, lamellar, fibrous, rod-shaped, granular aggregates, elongated prismatic and acicular habit;
  • average hardness – 5.5;
  • good density – 3.4 g/cm3;
  • the color of riebeckites can be from light blue to blue-black, black, gray, gray-blue, brown;
  • glassy, matte and silky shine;
  • the mineral can be opaque and translucent;
  • individual processed riebeckite crystals shimmer in blue, yellow-green and brown shades;
  • acid resistance;
  • fire resistance.

Types of riebeckites

Crocidolite

is the most valuable variety of riebeckite in a beautiful blue or blue-gray color. A silicified crocidolite with a greenish-blue or blue color is called a hawk’s eye, and a yellowish-brown one is called a tiger’s eye. Both are used for jewelry and crafts.

Rhodusite (or magnesioribeckite, blue asbestos) –

divalent iron is replaced by magnesium. Differs in light and dark blue color. Like crocidolite, it occurs in quartz, forming a beautiful hawk’s eye. Rhodusite is processed into cabochon and inserted into jewelry, used for making small crafts.

Origin and deposits

The origin of riebeckites is metasomatic or igneous. The mineral is present as an accessory in alkaline syenites, granites, and sometimes in volcanics, shales, and granitic pegmatites.

Reebeckite deposits: Kazakhstan, Canada, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, USA. Named in honor of the German mineralogist E. Riebeck.

Application

In addition to jewelry and ornaments, riebeckite is used:

for making paints. It was known as a pigment in Ancient Egypt. Occasionally used in icon painting. The advantages of riebeckite paints include resistance to external factors, the disadvantages are unsaturation, a certain grayish tint;

in the production of fire-fighting and heat-insulating materials.

Stones on the ground

These verses are about how stones lie on the ground,
simple stones, half of which do not see the sun,
simple gray stones,
simple stones – stones without epitaphs.

Stones that take our steps
white in the sun, and stones at night
like the large eyes of a fish,
stones that grind our steps –
eternal millstones of eternal bread.

Stones that take our steps
like black water – gray stones,
stones decorating the neck of a suicide,
precious stones polished by prudence.

Stones on which they will write: “freedom”.
Stones that will one day pave the road.
The stones from which prisons will be built
or stones that will remain motionless,
like stones that do not evoke associations.

So
stones lie on the ground,
simple stones resembling the back of heads,
simple stones – stones without epitaphs.

PSYLOMELAN – BLACK GLASS HEAD

Description of psilomelane

Black glass head. Psilomelan stone has such an intriguing second name. What is hidden behind this mysterious name?

Previously, psilomelane was the name given to the mineral barium manganese hydroxide with the formula (Ba,H2O)2Mn5O10. The term was introduced in 1747 by the Swedish scientist Vallerius, and in 1982 it was discredited by the International Association of Mineralogists.

And today, psilomelane refers to most of the manganese oxides with high density, hardness and variable complex composition, and these are minerals:

  • braunite – manganese non-silicate;
  • cryptomelane – manganese and potassium oxide;
  • hausmannite – manganese oxide;
  • coronadite – oxide of manganese and lead;
  • pyrolusite – manganese dioxide;
  • lithiophorite – manganese oxide containing lithium and aluminum;
  • Hollandite – oxide of manganese and barium;
  • Romaneshite is a barium-containing Mn oxide. Its formula – (Ba,H2O)2(Mn4+,Mn3+)5O10 – is very similar to the general one for this group.

The name romaneshite is even considered synonymous with psilomelane.

Psilomelan as the general name for the entire above group of manganese-containing minerals (this is what will be meant below) is manganese ore with the following characteristics:

  • crystal structure;
  • inconsistent chemical composition;
  • good hardness – 4-6;
  • high density – 4.4-4.7 g/cm3;
  • fragility;
  • opacity;
  • matte, metallic shine;
  • black, bluish, brownish or grayish-black color.

Origin, formation, deposits of psilomelane

Psilomelan is mainly of sedimentary origin in weathering products and oxidation zones of carbonate, silicate, and oxide ores, as well as in shallow waters of sea coasts.

The mineral is often formed in the form of massive sintered, kidney-shaped aggregates with a shiny smooth surface, for which it was called in the old days black glass head. Psilomelanic stalactites, dendrites, crusts, powdery and earthy masses, and oolites are also found.

The stone is mined in Australia, Austria, Afghanistan, Bolivia, Germany, Italy, USA, Japan. The largest deposits of psilomelane are located in Ukraine and Georgia.

Application of psilomelane

Psilomelan is widely used for the production of mirror cast iron and ferromanganese. Occasionally used for crafts. Psilomelan also imitates hematite.

This is partly the intrigue of the black glass head. After all, the secret of the stone has not been fully revealed, since its metaphysical and healing properties have not yet been fully studied. This is probably why magicians and lithotherapists use psilomelane extremely rarely in their practice.

PYRRHOTITE – STONE OF FIRE

The mineral pyrrhotite is quite widespread. The name came to us from the Greek language: “pirrotos” means fiery color. This name was given due to the fact that pyrrhotite and the stones of its group have a characteristic color from yellow-bronze to deep red. The mineral is polymorphic, that is, it does not have, in fact, a constant composition. It is classified as sulfides, the formula is not constant. More precisely, it is iron sulfide.

The stone has other very common names, we list them:

  • pyrrhotite;
  • magnetopyrite;
  • magnetic pyrite.

Composition and properties of pyrrhotite

The formula of the substance is: Fe(n)S(n+1). It clearly shows that pyrrhotite does not have a constant composition: iron and sulfur are combined in different proportions. The researchers note that compounds that have an inconsistent, variable composition are called berthollides. Chemists report that this is a class of non-stoichiometric substances.

Pyrrhotite occurs in continuous heterogeneous masses, the crystals most often being thin plates. It is quite rare to find prismatic or double pyramidal shapes. There is no doubt that the mineral has an excess of sulfur. This excess explains its magnetic properties. Moreover, the more sulfur, the more strongly the stone is magnetic. Of course, this effect is used in various ways in industry and technology.

Characteristics of pyrrhotite

You may notice that pyrrhotite is not afraid of sunlight, like many minerals, but of air. It oxidizes quickly and becomes dull as a result. Always opaque. It is noted that it has a metallic luster. Hardness: 4 on the Mohs scale. Density – 4.6 g/cm3.

As you can see, the parameters are quite high, but in fact, pyrrhotite has one drawback, which is why it is never used in jewelry and interior decoration: it is very fragile. There is no cleavage. But pyrrhotite conducts electricity well, which is why it is rarely used in electrical engineering.

Origin of pyrrhotite

Geologists pay attention to the fact that the origin of pyrrhotite is magmatic, hydrothermal. That is, the rock was formed under the influence of high temperatures and water vapor. It is interesting that in a number of cases the stone is placed in another category – sedimentary rocks, since, according to a number of characteristic features, such an origin occurs.

The material itself does not have much value. It is used as a raw material for the production of sulfur or iron. In some cases, amateurs confuse pyrrhotite nuggets with gold, as sometimes a golden reflection appears.

There are other similar minerals, here are some:

  • cubanite;
  • pentlandite;
  • chalcopyrite;
  • pyrite.

The magical properties of pyrrhotite

It turns out that pyrrhotite also has magical properties. In fact, the mineral is poorly studied, but many psychics and esotericists widely use the stone. It is believed that it changes the psychological state of a person. Two things are important here: where the stone (part of the body) is located and where the person is located. Depending on these two factors, the effect that will be produced can be predicted.

Fire and Ice“. Translation from Robert Frost

Some say: the world will die in fire,

Others talk about ice

I’ve lived a long time, and it seems to me

The fire will come soon.

But if someone told me
that death awaits us twice,
I wouldn’t be surprised. I found out,
that hatred is thicker than ice

And indifference is colder

eternal covers of ice.

And if there are not enough lights for death

Ice will do then…

They note that if you are in a bad mood, it is better not to wear the stone, as it will only worsen. If there is any joy, then the mineral will help prolong it as long as possible. If you are under the bright sun, you will be in a great mood.

The Avesta, a Zoroastrian collection of sacred texts, tells how one day the spirit of evil, the incarnation of the Devil, known as Angro Manyu, destroyed the stone Sky, which, like a skull, surrounded the world. And the sky became split. The fragments of the Primordial Sky turned into gems. Each gem retained the integrity of the universe, so they were worn as a reminder of the Primary Sky and integrity.

Fire Stones

Fire has long been considered the element that awakened all other elements to life. The color of fire is red, which is the color of blood, the source of life and energy. Fire people carry particularly strong energy, they are smart, active, and born leaders. They are ready to overcome any obstacle that comes their way, no matter how much effort they have to put into it.

Red stones of this element must be worn with special care, because they, like their owners, are charged to the limit with energy. Although they enhance performance and “awaken” almost all human abilities, they can cause discomfort. Excess Yang energy in them can cause headaches and nervous breakdowns.

Feng Shui pyramids

Feng Shui is a traditional Chinese practice that aims to create harmony and balance in a living or working space.

While pyramids are not specifically part of traditional Feng Shui teachings, some people have incorporated pyramid-shaped objects or structures into their Feng Shui practices. Feng Shui pyramids: beauty and benefits

The pyramid shape is believed by some to have energetic properties that can enhance the flow of energy, known as “qi” or “chi,” in a space. It is thought that the shape of the pyramid can help facilitate the movement and circulation of energy, creating a more balanced and harmonious environment.

In Feng Shui, the placement of objects is crucial, so if you choose to incorporate pyramid-shaped objects, you would need to consider their placement in relation to the Bagua, which is an energy map used in Feng Shui. The Bagua divides a space into different areas, each corresponding to a specific aspect of life, such as wealth, health, relationships, and so on. Placing pyramid-shaped objects in the appropriate areas of the Bagua may be done with the intention of enhancing the energy associated with that particular aspect of life.

It’s important to note that Feng Shui is a complex and nuanced practice, and incorporating pyramid-shaped objects alone may not bring about significant changes in your life. Feng Shui is best approached by considering the holistic principles of the practice, which include factors such as the overall layout of a space, the use of color, the arrangement of furniture, and the integration of natural elements.

If you are interested in incorporating Feng Shui principles into your living or working space, it may be helpful to consult with a professional Feng Shui practitioner who can provide guidance tailored to your specific needs and goals.

There are various objects and structures that can be incorporated into Feng Shui practices to enhance the energy flow and create a harmonious environment.

Here are some examples:

Mirrors

Mirrors are commonly used in Feng Shui to reflect and expand energy. They can be strategically placed to bring more light into a space, create a sense of spaciousness, or redirect the flow of energy. However, it’s important to be mindful of what the mirror is reflecting, as it can double the energy of whatever it reflects.

Crystals

Crystals are believed to hold and radiate energy. Different crystals have different properties, and they can be used to enhance specific aspects of life. For example, rose quartz is associated with love and relationships, while citrine is often used to attract abundance and wealth. Crystals can be placed in specific areas of the Bagua or carried as personal talismans.

Indoor plants

Plants are considered to bring vibrant and fresh energy into a space. They can improve air quality, add a natural element, and symbolize growth and vitality. Choose plants with rounded or soft-edged leaves, as they are considered more Yin and soothing. Avoid plants with thorny or spiky leaves, as they may create a more aggressive energy.

Water features

Water is associated with wealth and abundance in Feng Shui. Incorporating water features such as aquariums, fountains, or small tabletop waterfalls can help activate the flow of prosperity energy. It’s important to keep the water clean and well-maintained to ensure positive energy.

Wind chimes

Wind chimes are commonly used in Feng Shui to disperse stagnant energy and create pleasant sounds that uplift the energy of a space. Metal wind chimes are often used to activate and balance energy, while bamboo wind chimes are believed to attract good luck and positive energy.

Symbols and artwork

Symbols and artwork can be used to enhance specific areas of the Bagua or to evoke certain emotions and energies. For example, a pair of Mandarin ducks can represent love and harmonious relationships, while a painting of a serene landscape can create a sense of peace and tranquility.

It’s important to remember that the effectiveness of these objects and structures in Feng Shui practices can vary depending on the individual, the specific context, and the overall harmony of the space. It’s always a good idea to approach Feng Shui holistically, considering the overall layout, colors, and arrangement of your space, in addition to incorporating specific objects.

What are some other ways to activate and balance energy in a space?

There are several ways to activate and balance energy in a space, aside from incorporating specific objects. Here are some additional methods:

Declutter and organize

Clutter can create stagnant energy and hinder the flow of positive energy. By decluttering and organizing your space, you allow energy to flow more freely. Keep your space tidy and eliminate unnecessary items to create a sense of spaciousness and clarity.

Use color consciously

Colors have different energetic qualities and can affect the mood and energy of a space. Use color intentionally to create the desired atmosphere. For example, warm colors like red and orange can promote energy and vitality, while cool colors like blue and green can create a sense of calmness and relaxation.

Balance the five elements

Feng Shui recognizes five elements—wood, fire, earth, metal, and water—that represent different energies. Each element has specific characteristics and can be associated with different aspects of life. Balancing these elements in your space can help create harmony. For example, you can incorporate wooden furniture, candles, plants, metal accents, and water features to represent and balance the elements.

Enhance natural light

Natural light is considered beneficial in Feng Shui as it brings positive energy into a space. Maximize natural light by keeping windows clean and free from obstructions. You can also use sheer curtains or blinds to allow light to filter in while maintaining privacy.

Consider the flow of furniture

The arrangement of furniture can influence the energy flow in a space. Ensure that furniture is arranged in a way that allows for easy movement and a clear path. Avoid blocking doorways or creating cramped spaces that hinder energy circulation.

Create a balanced yin-yang energy

Yin and yang represent complementary and opposing energies. Aim to create a balance between yin (passive, soft, and receptive) and yang (active, bright, and energetic) qualities in your space. For example, if a room feels too yang with bright lights and bold colors, you can introduce yin elements like soft fabrics, dimmer lighting, or gentle music to create a more harmonious balance.

Pay attention to the entrance

The entrance of a space is considered important in Feng Shui as it sets the tone for the energy that enters the space. Keep the entrance area clean, well-lit, and welcoming. Consider adding a focal point, such as an attractive piece of artwork or a plant, to draw in positive energy.

Remember, Feng Shui is a holistic practice, and it’s important to consider the overall balance and harmony of your space. Experiment with different techniques and adjustments to find what works best for you and your specific environment.
